“Project Runway” Moving To Lifetime

heidi.JPGIn a move that was as dramatic as the Dodgers moving from Brooklyn to L.A., the Weinstein Company that owns “Project Runway” is moving the show from Bravo where the show originated to Lifetime—the home of every bad woman-centric TV movie ever made.  The five year deal would move the very popular reality show, a competition for aspiring fashion designers, to Lifetime beginning in November.

The problem is, NBC Universal which was in negotiations to continue airing the show on Bravo, seems to think the Weinstein Company jumped the gun and signed a contract with Lifetime while they were still negotiating with NBC Universal. According to a NY Times article:

In a statement, NBC said “NBC Universal has continuing rights related to ‘Project Runway,’ including a right of first refusal to future cycles of the series, which the Weinstein Company unfortunately has refused to honor.”

Needless to say, the Weinstein Company is calling NBC Universal a bunch of low down dirty liars. Well, not really, but that’s what they mean. So everybody’s in court and a judge will evidently decide where you’re going to see Heidi auf her latest.
