“Project Runway” Moving To Hollywood
According to an exclusive report at EW.com last week, when “Project Runway” moves to Lifetime this November, the show will also move to the west coast for its sixth season.
Then at the end of the week an article in the New York Post clarified the story saying:
Although some of the show is moving to LA, portions of the season will be filmed in New York, including the show’s trademark finale to be filmed during Fashion Week next February, the spokesman said.
The LA move is being made to accommodate host/executive producer Heidi Klum.
Heidi supposedly needs more time with her family, but hasn’t she heard she has to suffer for her art?
Since when is Los Angeles considered the focus of fashion as we know it? New York? Of course. London? Certainly. Paris? Bien sur. Italy? Certamente. But L.A.? Umm…not even in the top ten. All those fashion designers who dress the stars for the red carpets in L.A.? They’re all from somewhere other than L.A.
Is there a Mood on Rodeo Drive? I doubt it. Is there a Fashion Avenue? Nope.
Obviously I think this is a dumb idea. You shoot in L.A. if you’re “America’s Next Top Model.” You shoot in L.A. if you’re “So You Think You Can Dance.” You shoot in L.A. if you’re “Big Brother.” You do not shoot in L.A. if you’re “Project Runway.”
That same EW report said season seven of “Project Runway” will return to New York. I certainly hope so, because if they don’t the television fashion world has ended as we know it.
