Dear WOW Divas,
I’m inundated with press releases right now focusing on fall and holiday trends. They come via email and mail and have created a mountain on my desk and a huge “to review” folder on my desktop. Every now and then something catches my eye right away either because of unique styling or an amazing price. The latter was the case with this uber-affordable clutch for under $30. OK, so it’s not real satin and is sort of the marriage of two other styles – one form Lauren Merkin and the other from Stuart Weitzman. But, it’s not an exact copy, so I’m not totally put off. A great clutch it a MUST MUST MUST and this one certainly looks more expensive than $29.99. If you don’t have one in black, I highly recommend this purchase. It’s a classic style you can take to a formal function, a night out with the gals, a date, you name it. The pleating detailing is both a traditional element, but something that happens to be a big trend for handbags and clothing for the coming fall. The hint of faux-croc at the top is another fashion-forward element that makes the styling look more modern. I’d personally go with the berry shade. It will give your black dress a nice punch of color – FYI don’t match your shoes to your bag. Keep them black. This way, you’re handbag will really stand out and shine. If you have a piece of jewelry that is in the same family as your handbag you can go matching there – again not matchy matchy. Opt for a diamond (or faux) cocktail ring with an accent stone that is in the berry family. This will pull your whole look together.

OK. I’m officially an HSN junky. No, I’m not glued to the TV watching all day, but with their great website I just can’t help myself. These gold flats are only $39! OMG. I’m totally obsessed. Now, granted I did happen to see these live on some of the models while I was working at their studios in Florida on Friday, but still. Even without seeing them in person, how bad can simple gold flats be? Ugg, I sound like a sales person. I just can’t help it. Do I buy into all their merchandise – heck no. There is certainly a lot of crack and some items that I think are overpriced! Of course, I am based in New York and do have access to places like Century 21 (hello: Tod’s shoes for $140!! or a Moschino coat for $200!!) and then for jewelry we have our famous 47th street! Not everyone has access to these types of stores and shopping locations so HSN’s prices may just be the best deal in town. But, I digress. The sandals are super cute, super classic and SUPER cheap. I just wish they came in black, as well.

Last Friday I was on HSN chatting up fall 2008 handbag trends and a great affordable find from CALLA (the same makers of Charm and Luck handbags). While at the studios, I did some snooping for fabulous fashion finds and found Myrka. Myrka is a striking, fashion-forward jewelry line created exclusively for HSN by television journalist and fashionista Myrka Dellanos. Inspired by her travels, each piece has a powerful presence with the use of colorful glass stones that sparkle on rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets. The Myrka Bead-Studded 8-1/8″ Bangle Bracelet is my pick for fall. If you only buy one piece of jewelry for the fall season it should be a really big, bold cuff or bangle. Big necklaces, such as those seen on the runways at Lanvin, Marni and Louis Vuitton, will also make their mark in fall fashion. But, I find that the elaborate necklace will be a much harder runway-to-reality translation. Stick with the crazy cuffs!

A few weeks ago I went on a little rant about grow women wearing Jellies. Well, for all you jelly lovers, here is a Nine West pair that is OK and for less than $20 I wouldn’t feel so bad if I worn them for a few pool parties. It’s available in four color options - black, clear, pink and yellow. Of course, I would go with the black as it has the least junior look.

Smokin’ shades are the hot accessory. No self respecting diva is complete without them. If you want to rock the designer look, take inspiration from Madonna. Dear WOW Divas,
Yet another site you may want to peruse for great summer – as in NEW and NOW – merchandise is www.ShopBop.com. Some of my favorites include:
1) Juliana Jabour drawstring shoulder bag in yellow. I’m really feeling resurgence for drawstrings, as well as ultra long chain handles that have the bag sitting at or just below the hip. If you want to be classic, of course go with the navy. You’ll wear it for a few seasons and then it will seem old, but in a few years this is a style you’ll want to pull out and wear again.
2) LAMB Los Feliz Wilshire Bag in tangerine. You know how I feel about orange for the summer. This nylon tote is a great treat to have in your repertoire of bags.
3) L’Autre Chose Shoes Open Toe Sling Back Pump. For semi-conservative work places, this sling-back is an ideal choice, if open-toes are an option. The style is fun and feminine, but still very classic and corporate. Female co-workers will be jealous.

Dear WOW Divas,
One of the beauties of having fall merchandise arrive at major department stores – and now even small boutiques – in early June is that spring/summer merchandise, which you can actually enjoy now, goes on ridiculous sale. For instance, what about these lovely Anne Klein flats for $45!! I literally just put them into my checkout card. Or what about these Delman peep-toe wedges. Wear them now and in the fall – grey is still a sizzling color. Umm, maybe I should put this into my bin too? So, to all the buyers I say, keep pushing merchandise on customers sooner and keep those ridiculous sales coming!

A few weeks ago I learned about the funniest website ever, www.exboyfriendjewelry.com. Have you ever wondered what to do with those necklaces, diamond bracelets, cocktail rings, even costume jewelry that you received from old flames? Well, some smart chicks decided it was time you cashed in on these gifts! Basically, you go to this site and you can sell your old jewelry, trade with another gal, buy something and blog about your former bf. I don’t care for the whole spilling the beans about your ex – that won’t do you any good. So aside from the sharing of your soul, I love love the concept of this site. Sure, I can go to any pawn shop and unload my gems, but this is just so much fun! Being that I just got engaged!! it’s time to get rid of a few items.
